Re: Choosing "street" tires for 2015

Well, I had every intention of ordering tires this morning but circumstances have conspired to make me wait. I've checked results from the first 5 Solo Tours and Pro Solos, especially the most recent two, and its pretty clear that most of the class winners are using the Bridgestone RE71R. Now, the m...

Re: SOLO Event #2 :: 4/19/2015 - Neosho

Yeah, time to buy some new autocross tires. But which tires? Mark Foley, Opie, and Sam continue to go fast, and I know everyone else is looking at ways to go faster. I'm talking of autocross street tires, of course, but there are at least 5 possible choices this year. Maybe this will stimulate a dis...

Re: SOLO Event #2 :: 4/19/2015 - Neosho

I still can't believe that it didn't rain on us Sunday. Great event....everyone got 5 runs, it didn't rain, and I was headed home by 2 PM. That's approx. 275 runs timed and no safety issues. Congrats to Mark Foley for top PAX.....dropped .9 sec. on final run! So what was fastest? Going inside or out...

Thanks for all the kind words. I guess I'm a slower learner than Kent....it only has taken me a year to learn how to drive a Mini....and I know I still have some things to learn. Great job Kent! We'll all have to watch our backs this next year. Glad to have you running with us. I've been looking ove...

I'd say you're getting the hang of this pretty quickly....but there is always more to learn.

Hey Kent, Your lines look good to me. One key to this course was, I think, getting on the power as soon as possible before the crossover, and then maintaining your momentum as much as possible all the way to the far left-hand corner. The course had good flow to it, but it didn't look like it did. Fi...

Hey Kent,

I'll also be at Tulsa on Nov. 2, weather permitting, and I'll be glad to talk about what I see in the course and give what feedback I can. Keep in mind that I am, and will continue to be, a learner too.

Thanks for sharing the video.

I agree about the course....it was the most fun to drive of any all year. Even though it was fast and you would think a driver of a low-horsepower car wouldn't like it, it had a lot of character. Instead of 180s (it just had one corner that was actually a 180), it had corners that were somewhat less...

So what is that....maybe 20 degrees of positive camber? It must have been a handful to drive.

I noticed the same thing about the street tire classes. Hey, does this mean I get a better PAX next year? Whee! I hope SCCA doesn't screw around with my class too much.

Maybe I'll figure out how to drive my car to its utmost by next season.

Congrats to Sam for a great drive both Saturday and Sunday. You are the man! Yes, the course I did for Saturday was technical, and, yes, it was too tight in a couple of spots. If I were to do it again I would move about 3 cones to open it up some more. But my intent was to make people think about li...

A big congrats to Stan for top PAX. I appreciate Stan's doing that....no, really! What he showed me is that the car is good, and also that there are some things I can improve on. He drives the car a little more free than I do, I think. There is always something to learn, or to relearn, now that I'm ...

Thanks everyone for a really nice event. A lovely spring day autocrossing....what could be better. I like the way the heats are being run. It allows everyone to have a shot at the best conditions and gives a better accounting who is running better in any given class. Korry, congrats and thanks for d...
