Sam Henry Is 4th At Runoffs

Post by Ted Wells » Fri Sep 23, 2011 2:18 pm

Sam Henry, Republic, MO, drove his #37 Mazda Miata to a Fourth Place finish in the F Production race Friday afternoon at the 4-mile Road America circuit near Elkhart Lake, WI. Starting 10th in a field of 23 SCCA racers from across the nation, Sam had wheeled his "SpringfieldDyno.com" machine up to 3rd place with just two laps to go but ended up in Fourth after being beaten to the line by just .019 seconds. Sam's fastest race lap was 93.293 mph, considerably faster than his qualifying lap on Tuesday.

Sam finished the 13 lap contest 35 seconds behind race winner Steve Sargis, Frankfort, IL, who led flag to flag in his Triumph Spitfire with a fastest lap speed of 94.518 mph. Sam will be back on track at 1:30 PM Sunday afternoon when he challenges the E Production field where he qualified 23rd among 34 runners.

Also racing Sunday (at 8:30 AM, for gosh sakes) is Jack Schulz, Monett, MO, who will start 11th in the H Production race. In the fourth and final qualifying session Thursday, Jack pushed his "Automotive Archeologists" sponsored Spridget to a best time of 2:47.544 compared to the 2:41.462 turned in by Polesitter Mike Moser, Milwaukee, WI, in a Honda CRX. Twenty-one drivers are expected to take the green flag in the HP race.

You can watch Sam's and Jack's races Sunday if you - unlike your computer-challenged reporter here - have a computer with all the latest updates and plug-ins. And it's FREE!!!
