Auto Cross is a Time Trial type of Competition. One car goes against the clock against other cars in its class. We set up cones in an road race style course with Slolams, Hair Pins, Straights, Braking Thresholds, and Skid Pads. Runs Usually last 39-65 seconds depending on the course allowing 4-6 runs per driver per day. The course is different every time and new course designs or designers are always welcome. No special cars needed, simply pass tech, grab a helmet and find the limits of yourself, your car & your tires.
The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) is a Car Club that gets gatherings of gear heads of all types involved in many types of motorsports... Road Racing, Rally, Autocross, Hill Climbs, Track Days, Etc ... and the Ozark Mountain Region (OMR) is a local group of gear heads that make it possible for us to have events locally !
... one more for good measure!
speed is relative... ...but the feeling is absolute
Thanks to the Taylors for the co-drive in the MR2 turbo. That was a very big favor, and I appreciate it. I fear that fast cars on R-tires may be habit forming. Not good news, as I'm always talking myself out of buying something silly like a used Vette or S2000 (bachelor mega-debt).
Overall, I was glad to see so many people show up and help, which really makes things happen in an all-volunteer sport in our smaller region. When everyone contributes, like marking cones or picking up trash, that amounts to getting more seat time than most other regions can offer. I think we're hitting our marks this year, even with pavement holes, fickle timing reflectors, and the odd semi.
Hopefully most people enjoyed the course. I was looking for something fun for any car/skill type, but still rewarding smart line choice time-wise.
For anyone setting up a course at Ducks, I recommend starting with the back section with all the craters and barriers. We have new holes, but it's still possible to have a quick, safe course back there. Once that hard part is done, everything else falls into place.

Love the red, not so sure about the hood.scoTT wrote:here you go Jim
I just checked, and full coverage on a S2000 is almost double that for a C5. A Corvette is only about $20 more than a Miata every six months.

Well it took around 4 hours. Many people will note that their number changed. Too bad. I reinstated the single number instance policy once I had a chance to go through the data. In any case I entered all the data in and everyone's names and cars and of course your class should be correct so the numbers are no worry.zoomzoom wrote:Magilson picked up the laptop from Crazy_Dog, and now has to manually key in nearly 300 runs, while insuring the accuracy of the data entry. Doesn't sound like too much fun...
