SSS Class @ Neosho Divisional 4/24, Saturday Evening

Post by JimR » Tue Mar 16, 2010 8:39 am

I got an e-mail today from Janice Rick, the Midwest Division SCCA Solo Safety Steward:
Lori Gill, one of our best Midwest Solo Safety Steward Instructors has offered to be our "Divisional Event Instructor" and will be happy to teach a SSS class at any Divisional Event. Contact her to set this up for your event.
The first divisional is ours in Neosho on April 24-25, and Lori Gill agreed to hold a SSS class on Saturday evening, April 24.

SSS training
The more SSS, the merrier. Every Solo2 event must have at least one person with SSS endorsement on hand to run an event. The full details on what being a SSS entails are listed in the Solo rulebook. Basically, you attend this class, then serve as SSS-in-training for two events to get your endorsement.

Continuing education
A new rule for 2009 made being a SSS a little more proactive: During each three-year licensing period, the SSS must participate in one (1) continuing education seminar and serve as a SSS at five (5) events.

We have some local SSS who have endorsements that expire this year. If you hit this class, you should be good for another three years.

Jeanie & Scott - 4/30/2010
Bud - 4/30/2010
Rodger G. - 4/30/2010
Gregg M. - 8/31/2010
Bobby - 10/31/2010

Yeah, we'll attend. I can't exactly figure it out (SCCA shows we expire this year too) - we should have been OK 'til 2012 -but it don't matter. The class isn't all that long, and that WILL fix it for another few years.

Hey Jim,

I obviously need to attend. I might not spend the night down there on Friday, but will on Saturday, so sometime Saturday afternoon when runs are finished would be the best time for me. I would probably change plans, however, if another time would only work for others in the class.

I talked to Lori Gill, and she volunteered to come instruct the SSS class on Saturday evening after the banquet. That should be the most convenient for all.

She did request an idea of headcount so she knows how much in the way of materials is needed. If you haven't responded, please do!

Can't be too young for safety! I'd like to do it, and I'll be looking for something to do Saturday evening anyhoo.

The SSS training and recertification will be held in the classroom building where we do divisional tech and registration, located just North of the driving pad area.

We will target 5PM as the class start time, before the banquet at 7PM.

The consensus at the last board meeting was to host the class before we eat so that everyone can go have fun later. Makes sense to me! I will leave this to our instructor, Lori, and you the students if we want/need to flex on the timing.

Current list (please let me know if I am wrong):
Scott
Jeanie
Stan
Paul
Sara
Justin
Bud

Not on the list? Please confirm if you will be attending! :)
