SCCA MiDiv Convention March 4-6 :: Springfield!

Post by JimR » Tue Feb 22, 2011 12:16 pm

This year's annual SCCA Midwest Division convention is in Springfield, MO, during the weekend of March 4-6. It's a mix of seminars, discussion, socials, and meetings for SCCA members from all over the Midwest. This year, it's right here within OMR's borders - Springfield, even!

The activity that interests most people happens during the first half Saturday, when the seminars are held. A number of OMR members always go. I have made a day trip to previous events Kansas City for the last few years, and left a bit smarter every time. You can do the whole thing, banquets and all, or just the seminars like me.

Some of the sessions I've heard are scheduled this year:
- Chassis dyno tuning, Sam Henry of Springfield Dyno
- Solo car setup, Dave Whitworth of SPS
- Safety steward training
- Solo, RallyCross, ClubRacing, etc roundtable/brainstorming sessions
- Etc.

We can always use more safety stewards, and this is a chance to get that training in one place. It's also a good chance to meet people who know an awful lot about running events/cars/tracks of all kinds. There's benefit for anyone who has helped or considered helping with our programs.

I think it would be great if we had a sizable local showing. 8)

Online registration closes soon.

Scheduling of the installation of a new piece of equipment and Mill Changeover has put the Kibbosh on my attendance.

Jeanie may attend, I'll have to discuss it with her.

Anyone headed to Springfield from NWA/NEOK traveling via US 71 that might consider a car-pool?

Here is the latest schedule:

If you want to attend the seminars and didn't pre-register, I'm sure it would be all right to bring $20 and show on up. 8)
