Let's see... we'll have at least four ESP cars and three FS cars. So 7 cars, maybe 8 if Bob brings out the 5th gen.
It honestly would not surprise me if I was fighting for something around 6th or 7th place at this "event".
My car simply isn't very fast.
However, my car's driver is a different story.....

Simple and crude, but effective. The car too.

I was thinking that since OMR uses the PAX index to determine who wins overall in autocross, why couldn't it be applied to drag racing to determine who is fastest across classes. Well, that sounds good in theory, but in practice I think it won't work very well.
For example, let's say an ESP car runs a 13.2 quarter mile. That means my F Stock car has to run a 13.44 just to stay even. That ain't gonna happen. An ESP car that runs a 13.5, an average ESP car I would say, means that I would have to run a 13.74 to tie. That is also in question I think. A Miata in STS would have to run a 13.92 which I don't think is in the realm of possibility. Nick's WRX in STX would have to run a 13.86 to tie. Could it do that?
The Shelby is supposed to run around 13.7 or so. I think it is a little "softer" than that. That's why I hope to be able to compare my car to Scott and Jeanie's Bullitt and Justin and Sara's GT.
Well anyway, we'll see how it all shakes out on July 9.

Well, here's a report card, as well as I can remember, of the best runs of last night's fun drags at MoKan of OMR folk. Bobby brought Frank and ran 12.3. Opie surprised everyone, including himself I think, and ran 12.6. Dave and his classic Vette and John in his C-5 both ran around 13.3. I think Phil ran in the 12s in his Z06. Mark R. was fastest of the next group at 13.7. Mark F. and I ran 13.8. Korry broke into the 13s with a 13.9 and Scott got oh-so-close at a 14.0. Stan ran 14.3 I think. Nick's Subbie ran 14.6 and Jim brought up the rear, to no one's surprise, at 16.3. Four cylinder cars, as you might expect, are few and far between at most strips.
It was a nice night and everyone was having a good time. Corrections of times are welcome.

The Miata made blistering improvements all night long, hatcheting off hundredths of seconds with every pass. My three fastest in chronological order:
16.37 @ 83.30 MPH
16.35 @ 83.40 MPH
16.32 @ 83.36 MPH
Sayre, who you'll recognize from Solo events with his FSP Corolla, brought out a turbo Talon later on. I didn't see all his passes, but I saw a 12.xx pop up on the one I watched. The car apparently ran into the 11's before it broke many months ago, an unfortunate ailment of fast DSM products.
We'll call it four-cylinder bookends on a pretty successful OMR outing.

That was great fun! The best part was the close racing between several of us, all running 13.9-14.1. It seemed like you could get a hole shot and win, but sometimes the other guy could catch up, especially when I missed a gear (which happened several times). I thought I knew how to shift, but obviously I need to practice more.
I also wish I would have taken pictures before dark so I could have photographed the starting line.
I thought this would show a picture in this view, but I guess I don't know how to do it.

Went.... 1 - 2 - 3 - 2 / really quick clutch / audible swearing
Not fair. I can't remember the last time I made a gear change past second in that car.

Some of the "regulars" were makin' fun of us - "OH, they're AUTOCROSSERS - that explains it; they probably don't know where THIRD GEAR is......."Ironhead wrote:Happened to me once.markyf wrote: especially when I missed a gear (which happened several times).
