OMRSCCA SOLO Event #7
Sunday, September 20th, 2015
Crowder Truck Driving School
Neosho, Missouri [Map]

Register Online!
[Click for online registration powered by MotorsportReg]
Additional MotorsportReg instructions and details here. Please pre-register online to save time on the day of the event.

Event Information Car Numbers and Classes
Car Numbers are exclusive for this season, meaning only one person is allowed to run a number during the entire year no matter what class you are in (e.g. Car number 10 John Doe in SS, you would not be able to use 10 even if you ran a different class). During pre-registration, if a number is not shown when it is time to choose, then it is already in use this year.

Amenities
There are gas stations, WalMart, and fast food on Highway 59 about a mile North of the intersection of MO-D. There is no air available at the site, so prepare accordingly. Our friends at the Crowder College Trucking School usually grill lunch on-site at modest cost.

Directions from Springfield
Take I-44 to US 71 South, and exit at Highway 60 Neosho/Seneca. Go East to the light at US 59/71B (WalMart will be on your right). Turn right to go South on 59, and follow the signs for Crowder College and Highway MO-D. Turn left onto MO-D, and it will take you straight to Crowder College. Once you reach the stop sign at the entrance of Crowder, turn right onto Doniphan and head towards the windmill. Turn left onto National Guard Drive just past the windmill, and follow the SCCA signs and cones to the site.

Run / Work
Typically, half of the classes run in one heat, while other other half help work the event. Then we switch after lunch. Work assignments will be balanced to ensure even work coverage for all stations in all heats. If you show up late to the event or late to your work assignment, you may not be allowed to participate.

If we have over 80 entrants, we will go to a three-heat format:
  • Work heat 1 / Drive heat 3
  • Work heat 2 / Drive heat 1
  • Work heat 3 / Drive heat 2
Crowder College has asked us to sign a waiver at every event in addition to the normal SCCA waiver. If you have access to a printer, please print and fill out a copy in advance so you don't have to stand around filling one out at the gate to the site.

Thank you to all of you that took my son around the course in your cars! He enjoyed the day, and is looking forward to driving the next event. :D

Bud made a fun and challenging course that had my brain hurting getting my footwork down, left foot brake to heel toe shift....

A big thanks to you folks that make this all happen! Lots of hard work behind the scene.

Hey Y'all,

That was a great event yesterday! It was good to see all the folks from NEOKLA as well as those from other regions come. Sorry about the rain for all you first heat drivers, but I'm glad the rain stopped and you got some dry runs even if the track was still a bit damp in spots.

I appreciate all the positive comments about the course setup. Well, I really had to recoup from my last course-building experience in which I made the course too tight and, admittedly, painful in several places. I had hoped there would be some subtleties to running the course well and getting the car in just the right position in the fast parts appeared to be at least one key. I had to work on my own brain all through my runs to get my best.

Congrats to Sam for once again showing us the fast way around the course. And thanks to all the regulars and irregulars who helped make the event run smoothly. And thanks to Glen Moore for his awards as well as the excitement and humor he brings with his unconventional take on Triumph Spitfires.

Note to Kent.....your son didn't say much but I think he paid close attention, so that you better watch your back after he gets a few events under his belt. Ha!

Nice course Bud... A hoot to drive. Thanks to all the regulars who do the hard work...

It was nice to get some new shoes for Richard Cranium (the red car, don't ask) and a proper set-up/alignment. Because I have a co-driver and different type of tires, I get out of tire sequence sometimes with the ESP boys. That and other factors can make for a rollercoaster season. I barely had Richard rolling in time for the August event, but I was happy it didn't catch on fire. It's amazing how quick weight can offset power. I think the blue car and red car would have been within tenths of each other on the Chicago-land course. Just making their speed in different ways. The added torque of the turbo does make me giggle a little after many years in "momentum" cars.

That's too bad the first heat team had a few wet runs, but perhaps just luck of the draw... It was only a couple months ago when our heat had last 2-3 runs in the middle of a hurricane at the divisional  Hopefully Oct double header will be sunny and 65!

PAX results very tight...not much spread between drivers. Only on a few occasions was there more than 0.1 between drives, and often there were 2-3 drivers within that margin of each other.

I think it's fair to say that generally there are 2-3 distinct groupings...these results are not A-typical IMO. Seems to me, this must be an indication of a track layout that was VERY fair for all Class/Car types.....Kudos to Bud!

I wonder what the next event has in store for us...can it possibly be more fair and balanced? Sam, any hints or previews of what the next track will have in store for us?

Cheers!

Your statements are still applicable wrt the course design and what the results imply, but I've got to point out there are some errors in the results that have been posted on the website so far. I've got the corrected results files, but I don't have the rights to post them. I'm trying to arrange to either have the rights, or get someone who does to post the corrected results, but I haven't been successful at either of those things so far. In the meantime, here's what's wrong. 1. Sam is misclassed - FP, not DP - no change in PAX results. 2. Car number 13 in STX was incorrectly marked as registered when he wasn't there. 3. Wes Wood was registered under a different number than he ran under. The corrected results have valid times for him. That's not a lot of mistakes, but I figured I'd do my best to address it for you guys while I'm waiting on getting the info out via the official route.

I agree that I'm curious about what Sam's planning for 10/3 and 10/4. I intentionally asked him to be course designer because he has practice designing courses that can be lightly modified and then run in the reverse direction the next day. That, and he's good at it. :-)

Not sure on the course yet...

Bud's will be tough to measure up too...
Perhaps just a touch more technical than the divisonal... but nothing lined up yet. I'll be sketching a few concepts this weekend...

I'm looking forward to next weekend already!! :D Sounds closer saying it like that.

Knowing Sam is designing the course gives me a smile cause I'll be in some fast sweepers! I'm guessing here.

Is there any way we can tentatively plan on doing a short session of fun runs Saturday? I've got a few things I want to try out, including another car.....

Thanks!

Kent
