The white car probably looks familiar. Mister 2 is an excellent car to get in and drive quickly. Bud sold Bobby a well-sorted car, and we were 1-2 in class after the first day. Me a distant second, but it still felt good not being DFL in an unfamiliar car.

Finding the last few percent in the MR2 is more challenging, and I let it completely unravel on the second day. It's a little nervy driving a mid-engine momentum car on a high-speed transition course. There's no point-and-shoot, just bravery. You're foot to the floor right up to the instant you run out of talent, which I did...twice. I had to fall back on a conservative/don't-cone-it run, and fell down to fourth on Sunday by just a few tenths.

Thanks to Bobby for a drive in an entertaining car on a fairly entertaining course. It was three parts quick, look-ahead reward/punish gold and one part painful slowdown negotiation. I can't fault course man David Avard for laying down a challenge, though. And you'll notice Bobby's top ten overall PAX finish.

There is a St. Louis divisional over the Memorial Day weekend. I think it's Sunday-Monday, so there's not much excuse to skip this. There are some OMR regulars who I don't see much beyond home turf who have the pace and need to step up to the divisional level.

I bet that is quite a change from the FWD to more tail heavy RWD.

Barring any major incidents - I will be at the STL Div.
I can't let the Mustang take two this year.
Plus, it is my 13th wedding anni (5/23) that weekend and Sherri agreed to go (as long as we aren't at the track all the time).

Bobby is looking real good! Paxing 8th is no slouch in any Mid Div. He shoud do Nationals and the KC National Tour!

I had a bad weekend and only clean run on day one was a 75 second tank slapper. 3 of my 4 runs on Sunday were dirty and ended up winning it in the last run of the event. I didnt deserve it at all. I have been working on way too much new stuff so i regressed somewhat and came back this last weekend in KC and paxed 2nd and Tim Herron was #1 and Andy Hohl was 3rd. Both are Evolution Instructors so I guess Im in good company.

I didnt walk enough to be able to visualise part of the course causing some harsh steering inputs and also getting late on a few things. Not doing that any more....

Just skimming the results from the Texas Tour, it looks like Bobby didn't do too badly in the STi, either. With cones, even.

I think the ES MR2 is the right car for Bobby to campaign, though. It's competitive, and Bud had it set up well. There might be room for more development with more rear tire diameter to help gearing (maybe Kumhos are bigger?), and an adjustable front swaybar. Right now it's a rocketship in transition-heavy courses like the KC divisional course. It could be made to eat up more sweeping, open courses, too.

I found out Bryan Heittkotter (former ES champ) recently shoehorned 275's on the back of his '93+ BS MR2, and 225's up front. He ditched his milled ST bar, and bought a new bar to restore the front roll resistance. Less front camber, but it looks to be very quick. This might not apply to the '91-'92 MR2 on 14" wheels, but I bet there are always open seats in '93+ examples at Nationals...hint, hint.

Holy crap a 275 on a 7" wheel, that is an interesting fit........ Wonder if the 15's have a diffrent offset than the 14's?

I can't get 225's on the front of the 14's even with a 1/4" allowed spacer. I tried........

I ran the car as was from Bud, I figured he had the shocks set and the car felt great, so I asked him at the Dallas event, and found out that he had it at full soft for driving comfort.......Imagine we we turned them up to about 1/2 way where he said he ran them.........somthing to try in St. Louis.
