Price Cutter / Duck's Lot Question

I saw Jim's post that we can use the Price Cutter / Ducks for the 2009 season, which is great. Especially, in light of KC loosing their lot and not really finding anything that would be an accessible lot or not being allowed to run on the lot due to liability concerns.

I drove by the Duck's lot on Sunday afternoon, it continues to have more bad places with several spots now pushing up 6 - 12 inches above or dipping down below the surface. Also new places are cracking, breaking up and probably over the winter freezing and thawing will only get larger and more problematic. This will limit our available choices for courses. It seems a lot of the damage continues to come from the big truck training classes and no maintenance over the years.

I think (?) I read on an earlier post that the owner may consider some repairs / patching. While I do not know the finances of the club, but maybe, we as the club should consider helping the owner pay some of the repairs, and asking OTC to help as well.

Bottm line is if we lose the Duck's to bad condition or other reasons, will there continue to be an autocross in the area?

Yes. So long as I have tires I'll use my free time to find a place to wear them out, safely!

In the mean time, we all need to keep our eyes and ears open about new places. They may not be within 15 minutes of Ducks, but I think we have enough members from far and wide to find a few good alternatives!

Alternative sites and creative use of the Ducks lot are scenarios we're weighing. We'll know more next month.

At any rate, I recommend everyone make it to the annual OMR banquet on January 31st!

Problem always seems to be that other lots we might pursue, while in better condition are smaller than the Duck's stadium. So no larger course would be possible there than when working around the holes at the stadium

We definately need another Springfield area lot option. I pursued the use of the Fairgrounds this year, however that lot is not possible within our current entry cost.

Anybody with lot ideas please bring them to a board meeting. And as another reminder our board meetings are open, board meetings are also membership meetings. and we would welcome any members there.

Lastly as Jim suggest the banquet will be very exciting. You don't want to miss it.

Good news. Was told today that the truck driving school and the Duck's stadium have worked out a way to do "extensive" repairs to the Duck's lot. Not sure how much better it might be, but better is better.

Shaping up for a great 09 season!
