Tuesday, December 8 :: OMR Meeting & Election

Post by JimR » Mon Nov 30, 2009 6:17 am

December is an important one, which is why this month's board member and general membership meeting is pushed back to Tuesday, December 8th. Topics: the OMRSCCA Board elections, the 2010 calendar, and more.

1. The Meeting
What
The monthly OMRSCCA Board of Directors meeting is every first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM. They're a casual open meeting for members and non-members alike, and everyone is welcome to hear and be heard. Have a burger, talk club business, and bench race until you want to go home.

When
Tuesday, December 8th, 7:00 PM

Where
Schultz & Dooley's Too (pub/bar/restaurant)
3512 S National Avenue, Springfield
[Google Maps]
Basically, go North a few blocks off the National exit on the James River Freeway, and it will be in a brown brick shopping center on your right.[/quote]

2. The Election
Thanks to help from Ted Wells, you received ballots for the 2010 Ozark Mountain Region Board of Directors.

As the OMR Assistant Regional Director, I'm charged with overseeing the ballot counting at the monthly club meeting on December 8th. Apparently, it's in the region's bylaws. Or else they just told me it was my job. ;)

So I humbly ask a couple of things of the OMR membership:

1. Open the ballot and vote for up to four candidates.
2. Mail the ballot back ASAP or bring it to the "Super Tuesday" board meeting on December 8th.

The December meeting date was moved back one week from normal to allow extra time for voting, so please do so. The candidates were nominated at the November meeting and represent a wide range of our membership's activities and interests. They are all volunteers, so please show your support by participating in the election.

Should mention because many failed to capitalize on all their votes last year that each member can vote for 4 candidates.

For example it you and your spouse have a family membership, you are two members, and Ted will have put a 2 on your form. This means that under member #1 you can vote for 4 candidates and then under member #2 you can vote for 4 of the same or different candidates.

and PS. There is a conspiracy. We have a whole additional list of stuff that we plan to tell Jim is the assistant REs job :-)

Congratulations to the newly minted 2010 Ozark Mountain Region Board of Directors. The four winning candidates:

Sarah Huffman
Matt Longpine
Jeff Moore
Curtis Wood

They join the three carryovers, per club bylaws, selected at the November meeting:

Sam Henry
Jim Rowland
Bud Weeks

Thanks to everyone who participated. An excellent turnout for the meeting, and appreciations to all who voted. The results were fairly close across the ballot, suprisingly so. If you didn't think your vote made a difference, let me assure you that it did!

Some other big topics: annual OMR banquet organization, our first Solo events, etc. We'll get some announcements out in the near future.
