Minutes of the Ozark Mountain Region SCCA BOD meeting of 3/2/10. Members present: Curtis Wood, Jim Rowland, Sam Henry, Sara Huffman, Matt Longpine, Jeff Moore, and Bud Weeks, plus five other OMR members. Meeting called to order by Jim Rowland as RE Curtis was delayed. Motion to waive reading of the minutes from Feb. by Sam, second by Jim. Passed. Discussion of needs for the upcoming autocross on 3/21 and the autocross season. Stickers for trophys for 2010 are still needed and the trailer needs to be cleaned. Also the timing equipment needs to be tested. All M-95 helmets will still be OK. Supplies need to be inventoried. A work day was proposed. Discussion of the possibility to puchasing a few additional helmets, and getting a discount from Greg McNabb. OMR still needs rulebooks to sell. Wheel bearings on the trailer need to be checked on a workday. Jim to check with Crowder College regarding dates for events. MotorsportReg.com will be the registration site used this year by OMR. It is free to OMR if we don't ask for entry payments. From the Midiv Convention, we must assure that waivers are signed. The waiver station is a legitimate work station for two people. Crowder College has a site-specific waiver that can be filled out on-line in advance. A SCCA waiver could also be filled out in advance. Waiver process might flow better if there were signs directing people where to go next. Safety Stewards must watch for smoking and children in grid. From Midiv Convention, we should make novices feel welcome. Idea proposed was to assign a mentor to a novice as a work assignment. A schedule for the event could be handed out to each novice. In 2009, OMR had about 60 entrants per event, and 15 in each event were weekend members. Roughly 35 people per year do not come back. It was discussed that 75 entrants is the practical limit without staging more events. The trailer should be left in the Neosho area since the first three events are at Crowder. Discussion of buying a tongue lock for the trailer. Crowder will provide a food concession. For port-a-potties, one should be enough for the regional and the Evo event. Korry Berger will design the first course this year. Discussion of needs for the Midiv event. We still need event chiefs. Sponsorships are needed. Reliable will be a sponsor again. It was proposed that Reliable might want to be a series sponsor, such as $3000 for the year. Last year it was passed that solo entry fees would go to $25 for members with a $5 discount for preregistration. That will go into effect with the June event and will be posted on the OMR website. Entry fees for weekend members will remain at $35 with or without preregistration. Discussion of Safe Racer, headquartered 5 min. from Crowder, as a sponsor for OMR solo events. Continued discussion of Midiv plans. Banquet still planned to be at Crowder College. Discussion of afterparty site. More giveaways needed, including for entrant packets. Discussion of Neosho Chamber of Commerce support for Midiv event. Discussion of other possible autocross site availability. Discussion of possible sites for a rallycross. Discussion of site for next year's Midiv Convention. OMR member Vicky Jarecke said that she is working on a bid to have it in Springfield. Discussion of staging a road rally by OMR and members that can give advice. Discussion of adding stickers for FTD and Top PAX when solo trophy stickers are ordered. Motion to purchase new stickers including FTD and Top PAX by Matt, second by Curtis. Passed. Discussion of SCCA Street Survival program and the possibility of staging one in OMR at some point. Discussion of SCCA, per Lisa Noble, working with SAE programs such as at Pittsburg State. Discussion of using wireless timing equipment and the advantages. Matt has researched. Can handle up to 3 cars at a time, is easy to set up, and will interface with Axeware. Motion by Jeff that OMR purchase a wireless unit by Jeff, second by Jim. Passed. Discussion of display board that is still not 100% reliable. Motion to adjourn by Jeff, second by Matt. Passed. Submitted by Bud Weeks, OMR Secretary.
