Minutes of the Ozark Mountain Region SCCA BOD. Members present: RE Curtis Wood, Matt Longpine, Sam Henry, Bud Weeks, Jeff Moore, Tim Datema, and Justin Huffman, plus 10 OMR members. Call to order: Curtis. A guest was introduced, Bill Renke, a 25 year SCCA member of Kansas City and Kaw Valley Regions and the British Car Club. He will speak about the Street Survival School. Secretary's report: motion to waive the reading of the minutes from last meeting by Justin, second by Matt. Passed. Treasurer's report: Money still owed to Crowder College for site use and for new cones that have been received. Motion to accept report by Justin, second by Tim. Passed. The ballots were counted and the composition of the BOD remain the same. Elected to the BOD are Curtis, Bud, Jeff, and Matt. The members will be reinstalled at the January BOD meeting. Discussion of awards banquet. Nominations for the subjectively chosen awards will be done next meeting by the out-going BOD members. Those awards are the Dave Pistole Sportsmanship Award, the Last of the Great Ones Award, and the J. D. Rice Award. Sam will be computing points for the road racing awards and Matt will be computing points for the autocross awards. Matt will bring dinner menu to next meeting. Long discussion about door prizes for the banquet. Motion to provide $900 for door prizes by Curtis, second by Matt. Passed. Motion for all those in attendance at the banquet who have not won prizes by the end of the banquet to be afforded an opportunity to get whatever prizes are left by Jeff, second by Bud. Passed. Motion for the cost of the banquet meal to be $15 to anyone attending by Curtis, second by Sam. Passed. Autocross report: It was reported that Mike Clark, the promoter of autocross events at Frisco Station Mall in Rogers, AR, will no longer be associated with the mall. Justin, autocross chairman, reports the OMR needs more Solo Safety Stewards. It was discussed about having a SSS class before the banquet. It was also pointed out that OMR doesn't have enough walkie talkies. Motion to purchase 4 more walkie talkies by Curtis, second by Justin. Passed. Presentation by Bill Renke about Street Survival School and the overall issue of teen driving and teen accidents. He is a member of the Coalition for Teen Safety of the Missouri Department of Transportation. It was also pointed out that putting on a Street Survival School might help the region develop sites for autocross due to the community service/public relations nature of the school. Issue will be discussed next meeting by the new BOD and members will look at the Street Survival School materials next meeting. It was acknowledged that much preparation will be needed to put on a Street Survival School. Motion to adjourn by Matt, second by Justin. Passed. Submitted by Bud Weeks, OMR Secretary.
