Minutes of the Ozark Mountain Region SCCA BOD meeting of April 2, 2013. Members present: RE Curtis Wood, Jeff Moore, Tim Datema, Bud Weeks, Matt Longpine, Justin Huffman, plus 9 OMR members. Call to order: Curtis Secretary's report: motion to waive the reading of the minutes by Matt, second by Tim. Passed. Treasurer's report: Sam Henry not present, report given by Jeff. Some expenses from the recent autocross yet to be paid. Motion to accept by Matt, second by Tim. Passed. Autocross report: Last event had 42 entries which is considered good since it was a rescheduled event. There were a number of new people and weekend memberships are getting sent in to SCCA appropriately. Timing equipment worked well. Crowder College cannot host event on June 9 and another site must be found. Next event, May 19 will be held at Crowder as planned. Discussion of finding site in NW Arkansas as well as asking Springfield Convention and Visitor's Bureau to help us find a site. Fire extinguishers need to be recharged. Discussion of what supplier to use. Motion for Curtis to make sure OMR has good fire extinguishers for events by Curtis, second by Jeff. Passed. Discussion of need for more Solo Safety Stewards for regional autocrosses. Because key individuals are needed to operate timing and scoring, there is a lack of people who are free to be a SSS. Rodger Grantham is a Solo Safety Instructor and is will to conduct a class to qualify more people for SSS. Idea presented that the training could be before next BOD meeting. Motion for SSS training to be held before May BOD meeting from 6:15 PM-7:30 PM, with OMR paying for the dinner of participants by Curtis, second by Tim. Passed. Discussion of the autocross heat groups and the inherent unfairness of placing "hot" competitors into the second heat. There is a definite need to continue to balance the number of people in the two run groups so there are adequate workers. It was decided that Matt will structure the heats so that those who are competing for Autocrosser of the Year points run in the same heat, but that those heats are rotated so that all entrants have an equal number of opportunities to run in the second heat of the day, the one generally preferred by most drivers. Street Survival School planning. Price Cutter Park is not available for the May 18 date that was previously planned. It was decided that Tim will contact Bill Rinke to enlist his help in finding a site for the school. We will need two alternate dates. Discussion of what lots might be available for school. Motion of adjourn by Tim, second by Curtis. Passed.
