Minutes of the Ozark Mountain Region SCCA BOD meeting of March 4, 2014. Members present: RE Time Datema, Matt Longpine, Justin Huffman, Bud Weeks, Sam Henry, Curtis Wood, and Jeff Moore, with about 15 members and guests attending. Call to order: Tim. Secretary's report: motion to waive the reading of the minutes by Jeff, second by Matt. Passed. Treasurer's report: Motion to accept report by Justin, second by Curtis. Passed. Solo report: next solo on March 30. Justin will bring trailer and will figure up how many cones we need. It was passed at a previous meeting to purchase cones. We will probably run all 2014 events at Crowder due to the deteriorating condition of the Ducks lot. There was also discussion of trying again to use the fairgrounds in Springfield; Tim will check on that possibility. Matt reports that the computer is ready for the first event. It is believed that OMR has enough helmets to meet the need so far. A Solo Safety Steward class was conducted by Solo Chairman Justin Huffman in the hour before the BOD meeting. There were about 8-10 OMR members attending. Discussion of continuing to use the alternating heat system begun in 2013, whereby the classes alternate heats from one event to the next. That way everyone gets a chance to run in what are usually more desireable conditions. The consensus was that it is working OK. Discussion of solo school in May. Discussion of whether to have the novice and advanced students together or separate. There was also discussion of using the Ducks lot for a solo school to attract Springfield people. Scott Woosley will check on how it has been done in other regions. Discussion of having a test and tune. It was decided to revisit the idea as the weather improves. Discussion of the OMR Midiv event. It is thought that we should have both a Friday night and Saturday night food event. Curtis reports that St. Louis Region is hosting a driving school for club racers, a "road racing driving experience." Rallycross report: OMR will have a rallycross in cooperation with St. Louis Region, although the Rallycross Chairman was absent and unable to report on progress. Discussion of what equipment will be offered by each region. There was further discussion about ways to have cooperative rallycross events with other regions as well. Also discussed was that OMR should continue to support rallycross events to allow the sport more time to develop a following. Discussion of who should take responsibility for logistics for rallycross events, i.e. who should haul the trailer, equipment, etc. Consensus was that those who are enthusiastic about rallycross should do the hauling and so forth. Also discussed was the idea that it is not necessary to haul the trailer to rallycross events, that that is uneccessary wear on the trailer, that just the basic equipment needed for an event can be taken in participant's cars or trailers. Motion to adjourn by Justin, second by Matt. Passed. Submitted by Bud Weeks, OMR Secretary March 14, 2014
