Minutes of the Ozark Mountain Region SCCA Board of Directors from Sept. 2, 2014. Members present: RE Tim Datema, Matt Longpine, Bud Weeks, Curtis Wood, and Sam Henry, plus 11 OMR members. Call to order: Tim. Treasurer's report: with $583 owed for sanction fee. Motion to approve by Curtis, second by Matt. Passed. Secretary's report: motion to waive the reading of the minutes by Sam, second by Bud. Passed. Solo report: next events are on Sept. 13 and 14 at Crowder College. Matt will do sanction. Bud will do Saturday's course and Sam will do Sunday's course. Justin Andrews will move trailer. We may need to move start of course onto concrete so as not to pull up sealant from surface. OMR may need to purchase some new loaner helmets for next year since the oldest ones will probably not be legal; the new regs come out in Oct. Rallycross report: next event is on Oct. 26. No further discussion. Rally report: Tombstone Rally tentatively set for Nov. 8. Street Survival report: Street Survival set for Nov. 15 at Ducks from 8 AM to 3 PM. Jennifer Henry has volunteered to organize the food. There are new power points for the presentation and Tim will send out a new digital instructor's manual. There was much discussion of ideas for the SS event including: that we need more instructors, that we need to coordinate with MDOT so that their display and the "drunk goggle" test are available so everyone can experience, that perhaps one person should talk about each element of the course for clarity, that less classroom time might be better, that classroom time should be more to-the-point, that giving out tire gauges would encourage students to take tire pressure seriously, and that insurance agents may want to sponsor students to take the class. There was further discussion of the fact that two students were not able to get into last year's class because of the cap. Scott Woosley brought up that he has a candidate for a scholarship for SS. Curtis brought up that general etiquette is that a region donates excess funds from Street Survival events to the SCCA Foundation or to a charity. Motion to donate $500 to the SCCA Foundation for last year's SS event by Curtis, second by Tim. Passed. Annual awards banquet report: in order to avoid conflicting dates with the Midiv Convention, it was the consensus to wait on setting the date until it is known the date for the convention. Date for the banquet will be set at the Oct. BOD meeting. Motion to adjourn Curtis, second by Bud. Passed. Submitted by Bud Weeks, Secretary Ozark Mountain Region SCCA Sept. 8, 2014
